Why everyone needs Social Media

You can’t escape it, Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn are everywhere. Think you can ignore it all? Think again.

Here are 5 Reasons why you need Social Media:

1. Define your online presence.
The first thing anyone will do before meeting you is to Google you. You want to have some control over what they see.

2. Keep in touch with your friends.
I’m not much of a phone person and my crazy schedule prevents me from seeing my friends as often as I would like, so Facebook is a perfect way for me to keep up to date on what’s going on in their lives. It also helps me remember their birthdays!

3. Keep informed on latest business and technology trends. Even if you’re in a low-tech business, it’s important to stay updated on the latest.

4. Learn time management.
Social Media can be all-consuming. I’ve really honed my time management skills by limiting my time online.

5. Have fun.
I love learning new things and what better way to do so than by using Social Media tools. I’m having as much fun learning the WordPress software as I am having with writing my blog. What a great way to keep your brain engaged.

Bottom line – you can’t afford not to be on Social Media. If the whole Social Media thing overwhelms you, start small and focus on one venue like LinkedIn.
