Okay, so we’re all hunkered down in our living spaces, probably going a bit stir crazy. After all, how many YouTube videos can one watch in a day?
Here is some light reading to brighten your day.
1. The shopping frenzy.
No, I’m not going to bemoan the scarcity of toilet paper. We’ve heard enough about that mystery.
For me, I bought mushrooms and kale. After all, isn’t that the first things one thinks of in a panic?
I was telling my friend Lisa about this and she couldn’t stop laughing. She said,
“If those two items are out of stock, then we really have to worry because people are really panicking and buying that stuff!”
2. Meal planning.
I volunteered to venture out to do the grocery shopping. I thought Mr. Ken would be very happy about this. Except, I was met with the “deer in the headlights” stare after I suggested this. Mr. Ken went on to say, in his very nice way of course, “Um, you’re not going out and buying brown rice and tofu are you? You know I don’t really eat mushrooms or kale either.”
I did surprise Mr. Ken with some yummy super-premium Trader Joe’s ice cream. He is happy.
3. Online shopping.
I am trying, really trying not to compulsively check the latest COVID-19 statistics. After all, what difference is it if 1000 people have it or 5000? My “shelter in place” is the same.
So, what do I do, but peruse fitness websites. The fun and nice thing is that many fitness instructors are offering free streaming/downloads of their workouts. Since I am one who never passes up a bargain, I was on it.
I was very excited to get a number of the Bellyfit workouts. Except I didn’t realize that these were bellydancing based. Let’s just say, for once I am very, very glad that I am at home with no one to see me do these workouts. I have even asked Mr. Ken to practice extreme social distancing and stay two floors away while I’m working out. If you picture a spastic cockroach, you might get an idea of what I look like doing these workouts.
But you know what, in spite of my being very uncoordinated, doing these workouts takes my mind off of everything else that is going on. Well, desperate times call for desperate measures.
4. A burst of color.
My dear friend Judi sent me this picture and I can’t help but smile.
5. Some cuteness to brighten your day.
Isn’t this just the cutest thing you have ever seen? 🙂
So what are you doing to add some light to your day?

I can see you are making all the very best out of your free time! Good for you!
I ,myself am finally reorganizing and “letting go” of things in my cabinets and house , and realizing when it doubt ,throw it out as they say! It feels good to see a bit of progress.
I am also making some very creative meals out of what is currently in my pantry …some have been pleasant surprises, others not so much! With your kale and spinach from Trader Joe’s , I would probably make a stir fry !
Toss in some Yoga stretches , and sitting on my deck with a good book when the weather is pleasant and chatting away with hubby ,framily and pals , and the days manage to fill up.
Stay strong and healthy!
(Love those yellow flowers,Miss Nancy! )

We’re on severe lockdown here in Italy, but I’ve managed to go for a walk every day… to shop for basics. They have the most delicious fresh & sweet oranges in our little neighbourhood store, and then I come back home … the long way. I’ve also looked up gym classes online, as you say, free: for the moment I just look … 🙂

I find I still need to rise at 5 a.m. as if I am going to work or else I cannot get my day started. Like everyone else, I spend more time being creative in the kitchen. Today, I made my first pie crust in twenty years and it didn’t fall apart. Small accomplishments, still they are accomplishments. And as a quilter, I have made two full quilts and finished two others while remaining home. At this rate, I will have a year’s worth of gifts when I am done.
Thank you for your sense of humor and quick wit. It certainly makes the day more palatable. A chuckle of any size makes the time pass with greater ease.

Hi BJ,
Thanks for your comment. I am glad to hear that you are managing okay during this difficult time.
You bring up a good point about staying on a regular schedule.

you are very brave to try a belly dancing class, even alone. I fear I would tweak something in my back (tweak, not TWERK. That’s a whole nother disaster.).

Hi Laura,
Hah, it’s funny you should mention tweaking your back. My friend Lisa said the same thing. My response to her was, “I am doing these movements so slowwwwly I don’t think I could tweak anything.” But then again, being so uncoordinated at all of this, one never knows.
