I try to live a life of gratitude, but sometimes things get away from me. I notice that I take things for granted and only realize it when those things are taken from me. My ongoing experience with foot pain has served as a reminder. Maybe this time, I will learn my lesson.
I try to put things in perspective. I don’t have cancer, I don’t have an incurable disease and other than my ongoing foot pain, I am very, very healthy. It is just hard to have pain with every step I take. This isn’t even with my running or fitness walking; it is with my everyday walking.
I don’t want to live on Advil and Tylenol. I’m developing a whole new workout routine that can be done sitting down. I am doing more meditation. I am trying to slow down and not move so fast all the time. I want to give my feet plenty of time to rest and to heal.
Well, after 3+ months, all my efforts are slowwwwwwwly paying off. I am able to do mini-fitness walks without pain. And let me tell you, I savor every step of those walks. As I am about and about my local downtown, I enjoy every minute of being outside.
What have you taken for granted lately?
