Even though Montpelier is a city and the capitol of Vermont, it still has a homey, country feel to it. I just loved walking through the neighborhoods and saw such interesting sights!

True to its quirky nature, here is a pretty pink donut banner draped over a fence.

There were surprises in almost every yard that I passed. How cute is this little reading mouse! I think this was in front of the library.

Now this may just look like a stone slab to you, but if you look closely, it is in the shape of Vermont state. How cool is that?

The “Vermont Strong” term originated in 2011/2012 as a fundraising initiative and slogan to support recovery efforts following the devastating flooding from Tropical Storm Irene. It began with license plates, notably with the phrase “I am Vermont Strong,” later updated to “We are Vermont Strong” in 2023 to emphasize community unity following further flooding.

Montpelier is a close-knit community, just like most of the towns in Vermont. They have a lovely community garden. I just love the dream catchers that are on the fence.

There are lots of lovely old trees lining the streets. Here is just one example.
