Any New Year’s Resolutions?

new year resolutions
Normally, I view resolutions as things to be broken. Then you feel guilty and all out of sorts. Who needs that? But, in my quest to be more in charge of my destiny, I’ve decided to be more accountable. What better way than to publicly declare my intentions?

So here goes, my New Year’s Resolutions. Of course they are grouped into categories, since I love to organize things.

1. Physical.

I have the exercise thing down pat. I love, love, love getting up at 4:30 am to exercise! Yes, you can call me crazy.

I resolve to be more active during the day. Sure, I have my intense exercise sessions in the morning, but then I’m sitting at the computer for the rest of the day. And, a lot of that time in front of the computer is just perusing the Internet, e.g. wasting time.

I will do this by getting up from the computer at least every 90 minutes and moving! And I won’t be moving towards the kitchen to eat a cookie or some candy. ๐Ÿ™‚

2. Nutrition.

a.ย  I resolve to eat less sugar. I can’t completely give it up, even though I probably should. I know right now that I would not be able to keep that up. Mr. Ken will be very happy to hear of this one, since I will give all my cookies and candy to him. Oh dear, there go the pretzel M & M’s.

I will do this by only eating ONE sugar treat day.ย  My goal is to have the sugar treat be ONE piece of hard candy.

b.ย  I resolve to get more magnesium in my diet.ย  Okay, so this is an odd one; I’ll admit it.ย  I track my food intake on Sparkpeople.com and my daily report keeps telling me that I need more magnesium.

I will do this by first finding out what foods contain magnesium.ย  As long as it isn’t broccoli or brussel sprouts, I will add these foods to my diet.

3. Mental.

I resolve to learn one new thing every day.ย ย  I love learning new things, so this one shouldn’t be too tough to handle.

I will do this by listening to webinars, reading e-books and reading articles.

4. Career.

I resolve to do one thing career-related every day. My ultimate goal is get a job, even if it’s a part-time one. Somewhere I read that if you daily do something towards your goals, you have a much better chance of achieving them.

I will do this by making connections and looking at job boards.

5. Spiritual.

Become more involved at my church.ย ย  It’s all well and good to spend time in prayer and at church services, but it’s also important to help others.

I will do this byย volunteering to visit shut-ins.

So dear readers, what about you? What are your resolutions for the New Year?

Oh, and I almost forget – wishing all of you a very happy, healthy and successful New Year!
