Why I love Sundays

why I love Sundays
Sunday is my favorite day of the week. It is a time to step back from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

Why I love Sundays:

1. I love spending an hour in church. Seeing the sun come streaming in through the stained glass windows feeds my soul. Hearing the soaring notes of the organ is uplifting.  There is something so magical about streaming light and soaring sound.

2. I get to sleep in. Every other day, I get up at 4 am so that I can fit in my exercise before I start my day. Even though I’m not working full-time, I maintain my schedule as though I am. On Sundays, I usually sleep until 6:00 am. For those night owls out there, you’re probably shaking your head, thinking even 6 am is way too early.

3. In the winter, we go out for a relaxing brunch. We drive out the scenic road, so we can enjoy nature. In the warm weather, we are usually kayaking.  So I am doing one of my two favorite things:  eating or exercising.  Come to think of it, it’s probably good that I love to exercise so much since I also love to eat.

4. The slower pace gives me a chance to get organized for the week. I make my snacks. Snack 1 is organic yogurt with raspberries and chia seeds. Snack 2 is raw nuts, either almonds, cashews or pistachios.  I count out a serving of the nuts and put them in little plastic bags.  Okay, so this is very dorky, but it helps with portion control.  I especially love almonds and if left to my own devices, I would eat many more than the 20 or so that is one serving.

5. I feel so relaxed all day. It’s a great way to start out the week.

What about you? What is your favorite day of the week and why?
