Do you have the discipline to achieve your goals?

discipline to achieve goals

I have lots of discipline when it comes to exercise. I can easily push myself, even when I don’t feel like doing any exericse. I am stronger and in the best shape of my life. I also have lots of energy, in spite of having a lot of stress in my life right now.

Here’s my typical workout schedule:

–Up at 4:30 am
–Eat healthy breakfast of egg whites and whole wheat toast
–Workout for 1 – 1 1/2 hours
–Have a healthy snack – orange juice w/ glutamine powder, a piece of fruit.
–Do activity bursts throughout the day.

Why am I so successful at this?

1. Clear goals.

These vary, depending on the time of year. Before kayak season, I’m focusing on upper body strength. Right after the winter, I may focus on losing some fat.

2. Set schedule.

I have planned rotations so I know exactly what workouts I will be doing on a particular day.

3. Some flexibility.

If I wake up and don’t feel like doing my planned workout, I listen to my body and do something else, like yoga or even a walk.   When life interferes with my workout time, I try and do quick activity bursts throughout the day.

4. Plan rewards.

If I’ve met a goal, I may reward myself with a new exercise DVD or a new workout top.

Now why can’t I follow the same steps for my job search?
