Hobbies are fun. They can take us away from everyday life. Mr. Ken has recently taken up metal detecting. I’m glad he has something to take him out of the house and away from donut eating. 🙂
When I picture metal detecting, I picture an old guy in white socks, walking along the beach. Thankfully, Mr. Ken does NOT wear white socks and shorts when he does his metal detecting thing.
As for me, I have taken up collecting crystals. I just love all the pretty shapes and colors. It is fun to learn about the different properties of crystals as well. I feel like I am using my brain a bit.
What unusual hobbies have you taken up?

Wishing Mr Ken luck with his detecting!! We often see detectorists in one of the adjoining fields although weirdly not in the other field where the largest cache of Iron Age gold and silver coins were found a few years ago.

Hey Colin,
It’s funny you should mention seeing detectorists, Mr. Ken is a big fan of the show, “The Detectorists.” (Not quite sure of the name.) He is on his own with this show. To me, it was as exciting as watching paint dry. 🙂

Haha, I think it must be a ‘mind-set’ thing? 😉 You do read of some incredible discoveries still being made! I think I would be just as happy with a 19th century silver dollar!! 😉

Hi Colin,
And I think metal detecting in Europe is much more interesting since one may find things from wayyyy back when, e.g. the iron age.
As for us here in the States, old is 1800.

As I have constantly told myself since I went north of 50, age is relative! 😉 The fun is in the discovery! 😉 🙂
