Breathing a sigh of relief

To say it has been a long 19 months is an understatement. As we slowly start to come out of shut down and COVID scares, life is returning to normal. But old habits die hard, I still wear a mask when I go in stores or anywhere indoors; I keep supply of disinfectant wipes in my purse and I stay 6 feet away from people.

This whole experience has really made me appreciate the little things in life that I used to take for granted. I love to read and one of my favorite things to do is to go to the library and pick up several books to read. This all came to a halt during COVID, since our library totally shut down for several months. Eventually they did open up in the sense that you could email them your book request, they would check out the book for you and you could then go pick it up outside. This was better than not having access to books, but I love browsing at the library. I don’t always know what book I want. Plus, I love to check out several books at a time.

Yes, I could have used a Kindle and ordered downloads, but I don’t like reading books on a screen. I would much rather hold the book in my hands and turn the pages.

Earlier in July, our library re-opened. I was so happy the first time I walked in the door. I was also happy because many of my favorite authors had continued to write books during the pandemic. Recently published books are usually hard to get, but with the shut down, there were lots available.

This picutre is of my first batch of books. As you can see, I love mysteries and detective stories.

Why are you breathing a sigh of relief now?
