My attitudes sure have changed in the 5 months since the shutdown due to the Pandemic began. How many things have we all taken for granted, that now are either no longer in existence or have become big deals?
Take hair cuts for instance. Now, I know in the grand scheme of things, getting one’s hair cut is not exactly up there with finding a cure for cancer, but it is one of those little things in life that we just do. Well, not anymore.
So, here in Massachusetts, everything, and I mean everything shut down for several months. Then in July, things like hair salons started opening up again. I was very, very reluctant to venture out to get my hair cut. My excursions consisted of going to the grocery store and going for walks in an uncrowded area. If I was feeling particularly brave, I would venture out to Costco, which is in the next town over.
The last time I had my hair cut was in January. Now, I have very straight, fine hair so it is no big deal to just keep it pulled back. But now I am sure that we will see an resurgence of the COVID peak that we had in April, so that means things will close down again. So, I took a deep breath and decided to get my hair cut. Of course, I was wearing a mask, as was the hair stylist. I was the only customer in the shop. They took my temperature before I was let in the door.
It sure felt good to get that hair cut! Almost a return to normalcy, except for the mask thing.
What about you, what are you doing (safely) to return to normalcy?
Pretty hairstyle is from Google images.

I had my hair cut pretty short 3 weeks ago, and already wish I’d had it even shorter… Next week we’re driving down to Puglia for a short holiday: they say they have all the anti-covid measures going. Fingers crossed… super crossed.

Hi Bea – great to hear from you. I am so glad you will be able to get away. Our trip(s) to Quebec City and Vermont were canceled unfortunately, so my getaways consist of a long walk at a local college campus.
Hope you and your family are well.

Well, I have not been to a salon since January either. Unlike you,I wasn’t as brave. I watched a bunch of hair cutting tutorials and very, very tentatively did my own with great trepidation for the first time last week! I wish I had gone shorter but was just too hesitant in case it turned out terrible! .I am not thrilled ,but it will do for now! After our chasing a nice pair of hair cutting scissors, I also cut Jud’s and his looks Much Better than mine! Not fair!

Hi Judi,
You are a braver soul than I! I would be afraid to cut my own hair, straight as it is. Mr. Ken wanted me to trim his hair too, but I declined, afraid of the end result. 🙂

The title of this post says it all. Each one of us are experiencing a radical change in our routine. And I feel the change is for the better. As no one knows how long the pandemic’s gonna last it’s worth considering living a normal life with a few exceptions. Adhering to all the mandatory safety guidelines is a must as also fitness exercises.
Thanks and regards Nancy 😊
