So for those of you waiting on the edge of your seat for the answer to last week’s, What is it???, the answer is here. It is a Netgear Nighthawk Smart Wi-Fi Router. What?? In English terms, it’s a machine that allows your computer, smartphone, tablet or any other device to connect to the Internet wirelessly. I was very lucky to get this nifty thing from the Amazon Vine program. I must confess I didn’t realize how neat it was until I asked Mr. Ken, my local geek, about it. He almost fell off his chair he was so excited.
Me: “Ken, can you come in here and look at this thing I’m being offered by Amazon? I think it’s pretty cool, but I don’t know.”
Mr. Ken: “Oh my gosh, this is awesome, it has a dual core processor and a dynamic QoS, you should definitely request this.”
What’s a QoS? Sounds like a quota or a quorum, doesn’t it? It means “quality of service” and that means that some Internet traffic is prioritized. Still confused, well so am I. . .
So it arrived and Mr. Ken absconded with it up into his office. I didn’t hear a peep from him for several hours. When he finally emerged, he was smiling and said I have checked all of the Internet connections and we are running 5 times faster.
I’m thinking to myself, “I thought we already had a very fast connection, but I guess for geeks, there is no such thing as too fast.”
I know better than to ask him how he measured the Internet connection.
I really wanted to capture this device in it’s full glory. At night, it has about 5 blinking lights on it, so it lights up the room. A picture can’t do it justice. But here I sit, with a super fast Internet connection, feeling like I am on a space ship.
Next week I will get back to reporting on my conferences. I got tied up this week with signing up for a month of unlimited barre classes, which takes priority over everything else. I already warned Mr. Ken, my Mom and my friends that I will be hard to reach since I will be practically living at the barre studio.Ā Ā You can tell where my priorities lie. š

This router has been a lot of fun setting up and using! I still have a lot to learn about it too. It does look like a spaceship about to take off though!

Hello Mr. Ken,
Well, you can consider it an early Christmas present. š
Although, I’m not sure it counts as a present since I got it for free. š

Wow ! So that’s it ! I’m not geek enough to get one as my IP supplies all the boxes and cables. Nancy, you are so brave in asking Mr Ken, ” How do you measure ………”. Very brave indeed ! š
Well, we are still commenting. Got a gizmo so that I can read faster ? xox ā¤

Dear friend Ralph,
I’m sure Mr. Ken’s favorite website, Newegg.com, has many such gizmos. š
