Starting over and over and over

starting over

One of my favorite quotes from yoga class is: “It’s not how many times you fall, but how many times you get back up again.” We all fall in life; that is part of being human.

I try to live a healthy lifestyle, exercising and eating right. That being said, I do love my sugar. Can we say Peeps or M & M’s? For Lent, I decided to give up cookies and candy. Well, that lasted exactly ONE day. Ash Wednesday is the beginning of Lent, and by Thursday, I was back to eating cookies. In the past, I would have felt very guilty about this, but not now. I said to myself that “tomorrow is another day.” Except tomorrow meant I was till eating cookies. So I decided to try something new. I would give up cookies and candy on Fridays. That’s doable for me.

My lessons learned from all this are:

* Don’t beat yourself up over a failure.
* Don’t be afraid to start again.
* If you keep failing, maybe it’s time to take a hard look at what you are trying to do.
* Approach your goal from a different angle.
