No surprise that not only are the buildings in downtown Montpelier interesting, but the houses are too.
Sometimes, it’s just the paint on the house that makes it interesting.
I just love the patriotic flags, as well as the abundance of black-eyed susan flowers of this Victorian. Most of the houses I saw were Victorian, my favorite style. 🙂
And the houses come in many different colors! My favorites were the blue Victorian and the mauve Victorian.
Each house I saw had some interesting and unique architectural details. I love these turrets. And if you look closely at some of the Victorians, you can see the fancy roof designs.
A lot of the houses have front porches, which I love. I can just picture sitting out on the porch, watching the world go by.

Hi Nancy, another lovely post! I really enjoy seeing the character of these old homes through your camera. It’s amazing how a splash of colour, a wraparound porch or a quirky architectural detail can make each house feel like it has its own personality.
I especially liked the Victorian homes with the American flags and flowers. They looked so welcoming, and you can almost imagine the stories those walls could tell after all these years.
Your Montpelier series has been such a pleasure to follow. It’s reminded me that one of the best ways to discover a place is simply to slow down and walk it. Thinking back, you and Ken were the ones who first inspired me to get a Fitbit and start walking years ago, and that journey eventually led me to taking on some pretty crazy challenges! So thank you for that. 😊

Yes, thankfully my knee is doing really well now. After a few months recovering from a meniscus injury, I’m back on my local trail again and the physio has been really pleased with my progress.
It’s funny looking back to my blog post in 2016 when I wrote about you and Ken inspiring me to buy a Fitbit. I remember saying that you were responsible for me spending more money! 😄 Little did any of us know where that simple decision would lead. Those first walks to my local pond with my camera gradually turned into longer walks, then endurance challenges, and earlier this year I completed a 50K fundraising walk for the MS Society.
Looking back, it’s incredible how one little bit of encouragement can change the direction of someone’s life. Thank you both for giving me that nudge all those years ago. I’ll always be grateful.
I can’t wait to see where your next adventure takes you!
