Joys of winter hiking

Posted on March 6, 2024

So I live in New England and even with the infamous “global warming,” it is cold and snowy. It can get depressing to be stuck inside for months on end. Mr. Ken and I enjoy hiking all year long.

A few days ago, we decided to emerge from “hibernation” and go for a hike at our favorite state park. This is also where we love to kayak in the summer. It was a glorious sunny day without a cloud in the sky. There was snow on the ground and the sun made it sparkle. The reservoir was also covered in snow.

Here is the intrepid Mr. Ken, ready for anything! His red cap can be seen from miles away. 🙂

And here I am, all bundled up and smiling. You can see the ice on the water behind me.

Even though we have hiked here a lot, there is always something new to see. We are just fascinated by the remains of an old house. You can see the walls and the fireplace. We wonder what the story is with this house. It must have been here at the turn of the century and was probably the only house for miles around.

And even, better, we were the only ones there! As you can see from the empty parking lot.

What do you do in the winter?
