It has been a long winter, to say the least. Yes, the days are getting longer and the sun is getting brighter, but we just had a big snowstorm with 9 inches of snow. It was all of 9 degrees Farenheit (-13 degrees Celsius) the day after the storm. Brrrrr.
But spring is coming! How do I know that? Our little chipmunk, Maxwell, has made a brief appearance. He even dug a little tunnel in the snow to come out from his winter sleep. Yay!
He was treated to “room service,” e.g. Mr. Ken put some peanut treats and some dried tart cherries down his little chipmunk hole.
Our Maxwell is a little camera shy, so we weren’t able to get a picture. Here’s a picture of a prior chipmunk, Stealth Baby, emerging from her sleep. Maxwell looked pretty much the same. 🙂
How do you know spring is coming in your neck of the woods?

Here it’s very sunny, blue skies these days, though the temperature (for us, anyway!) is still very low: 10° to 13° 🙂

Hi Bea,
Even if it is cold, if it is sunny with blue skies, I am energized.

I always look for the fresh buds growing on bushes and they always raise my spirits

Hi Peter,
I love seeing the first crocus buds in the ground. Except they inevitably get covered by snow.

Here, the songbirds are coming out, and the sun hits our floor less steeply now; in the winter it reaches the far wall, and now it’s only mid-floor – which means all the sun is going to our balconies. 🙂

Hi Trinity,
Thanks for your comment. We now have pretty goldfinches coming to our bird feeder. And who knew, but their feathers turn greyish in the winter, and now are starting to turn yellow.
