So it isn’t often that I get into an extreme cleaning mode, but when I do, watch out! A few weeks ago, the urge to clean hit me. At first glance around our home, it looks clean and uncluttered. However, when one starts opening closets and drawers, it’s a whole different story.
I decided to do one closet or drawer a day, to make things more manageable. It has been two weeks and I am more or less done! It’s funny, for the first few days, I was really sore and stiff in the evening. Who would have thought that reaching into a closet or a drawer and putting something into a trash bag would be so physical.
Here’s some of the results of my work:
PANTRY
DOWNSTAIRS HALL CLOSETS
UPSTAIRS HALL CLOSET
OFFICE CLOSET
DRAWER
I didn’t take “before” pictures, but here’s what I ended up with.
TRASH – 3 1/2 large bags
CLOTHES FOR GOODWILL – Scott’s Turf and ladder not included. 🙂
STUFF FOR SWAP SHOP AND A LOT OF EMPTY SHOE BOXES
What clean sweep stories do you have to share?
Most photos are thanks to my dear Mr. Ken, photographer extraordinaire.

Haha, everything’s looking spick and span there. I too suffer from having a switch turned on once I do start cleaning, because one thing leads to another and the next thing I know, I’ve thrown out most things and have cleaned things I didn’t know I had.

Hi Stuart,
Thanks for stopping by and for sharing your “clean sweep” stories. Hah, as I was going through all my closets and drawers, I found lots of things that I didn’t know I had. They were easily thrown out, my thinking being if I haven’t thought of it/used it in 20 years, then I don’t need it.
Happy cleaning!

Nancy:
I hope you and Ken are well and enjoyed a wonderful Thanksgiving. I definitely have a clean sweep story, but it’s of a different type. If you get a chance to read it, I’m sure you’ll see what I mean. Here’s a link: http://musingsamidthethorns.com/2021/11/21/a-power-in-naming/.

Hi Ken,
Hah, just wait till I get the urge to organize your closets. Then you really won’t recognize our house. 🙂
