A little rant

So this is rather tongue in cheek, but here goes.

So my excitement last week was planning a trip to Ocean State Job Lot. Believe it or not, they have the best prices on Bob’s Red Mill Oat Bran. Yes, my local Whole Foods carries this, but it is $3.00 more per bag! It’s the same stuff.

Ocean State Job Lot, as it’s name implies is a no-frills discount store. But, the sales clerks there are the friendliest people I know. Still, I do an in-depth risk/benefit analysis every time I leave my house. Is the benefit of going out more than the risk of getting the COVID? In this case, I desperately need some more oat bran. But, when I got to the store, the shelves were empty. I cannot believe that there has been a run on oat bran. Cookies; yes. Potato chips; yes. Alcohol; yes. But oat bran? I think not.

Since I have lots of time on my hands, I decided to contact the Ocean State headquarters and see what the story was with the oat bran. I had a lovely conversation with a very nice customer service rep. Of course, she was probably thinking, “who is this lady, who is telling me her life story and how much she loves oat bran?” Well, this is what happens when one is shetering in place for 4 plus months, without a lot of human contact.

Not to waste a trip, I ended up buying some chocolate bars instead.

What is new in your life lately? Have you had any excitement? (And I am using that term very loosely, since my excitement consists of going to various food stores and having extended conversations with customer service reps. . .)
