As we are savoring the last days of kayaking for the season, I am becoming a lot more reflective. Last Sunday was supposed to be, “a beautiful sunny day.” (Quote taken directly from the weather forecast). So we decided to go kayaking at our favorite spot. There was a big cloud cover, but we thought that eventually it would get sunny. No such luck. In spite of that, we had a marvelous time out on the water. The water was like glass and the kayaks just glided through the water. It was almost as though they were floating. I think all the cloud cover made for no wind and that is what made the water so flat.
So I got to thinking about life and clouds. When the clouds come:
1. Accept the fact that you have no control over some things.
Being upset at the cloudy weather doesn’t do anyone any good. The weather is what it is.
2. Make the most of what you have.
The day was warmish, there was no wind and the water was like glass. It was truly a special paddle.
3. Be grateful for what you do have.
I love being out on the water. I am so grateful for my health and my body that allows me to paddle.
What about you? What do you do when the clouds come?

It certainly was a wonderful paddle even though the sun didn’t come out. There is something special about paddling on flat water and seeing your kayak slice through the glass smooth surface. Of course, the Blizzard was also special!

Hi Mr. Ken,
Yes, that awesome snickerdoodle Blizzard after our paddle really hit the spot. π
