Do you believe in fairy tales?

I am in the final phase of my volunteer project and it is a sprint to the end. I work with amazing colleagues and we are all pulling together to create an awesome final product for our client. I sat down on Saturday to do some last minute work, but instead I got roped into watching the royal wedding. Now unless you live under a rock, you know that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle wed this weekend.

I lost myself in a fantasy world for an hour. If I had stopped to think about it, I wouldn’t have done so. After all, what is the purpose of a monarchy in this day and age? My logical side says they are leeches upon society. But, I let that go as I watched Prince Harry and Meghan get married. I love churches and I love church music. I am a big romantic at heart and loved seeing the happy couple. Now again, if logic had interfered, I would be with the naysayers and wondering how long this marriage would last. But at least for today, I was swept away in the oldest romantic tale in the books, pretty young girl gets swept away by a handsome young prince and they live happily ever after. And if that wasn’t enough, I could have spent an hour just looking at the hats. The English, in addition to their delightful accents, wear hats like no others.

I couldn’t help but smile as adorable Princess Charlotte waved to the crowd. Even the most jaded of us smiled at that. So there is good in the world, we just have to look for it.

We all need a little fantasy in our lives. What about you? What fairy tales have you thought about lately?
