In typical New England fashion, our spring has been cold and rainy. At least it isn’t snowing, right?
Every day, I try to get outside and walk, not matter the weather. I just love walking. I was out on a recent rainy and gloomy day, but the day was bright because of the pretty spring flowers. Flowers are more colorful against a grey background. The bright white and bright pink flowers seemed to glow.
Several flowering trees were in bloom. I kept stopping to admire them. They made me smile and set the tone for the entire day.
What do you do to turn a gloomy day around?

I’m in drought-stricken Northern California, rain is a gift. We cheer when it rains!

Hi Melody,
Isn’t it amazing how the same scenario, e.g. rain, can invoke such different responses, depending upon the context?
I hope you guys get some rain soon!

Dear Brother Steve,
Thank you. These photos were a challenge since it was pouring rain. I didn’t want to get my phone wet, so I was trying to hold up my umbrella and take pictures at the same time. Not an easy thing to do! 🙂
I hope you are having a good week my friend.

Rain is also good because it fills up the rivers, where we love to kayak! Spring is so nice in New England as the winters can be long and it is so nice to see all of the colors of spring! Soon the azaleas and rhododendrons will be blooming too!

Dear Mr. Ken,
Yes, the more rain, the higher the river. This is all good for our beloved kayaks since there is less likelihood that we will go over an unseen rock in the river. 🙂

A movie, a shared blanket, and some hot chocolate do the trick for me.

Love your photos Nancy. Our tornado season has kicked off this year already here in Oklahoma as we have already had to head for the shelters a few times.

Hi Tony,
Oh dear, sounds frightening. I remember going on a business trip to Kansas City and in the hotel room was a sign, “in the case of a tornado warning, head straight to the bathroom and get in the bathtub.” I guess that was the safest place to be.
