So Mr. Ken and I ventured away from our nature Vermont vacations, and stayed in Montpelier Vermont last summer. As usual, we had a blast, in spite of it being in the 90’s most days. Now, Montpelier is more Northern Vermont, so you would think it would be cooler, but they were having a heat wave.
Montpelier, Vermont, is known as the smallest U.S. state capital, famous for its gold-domed Vermont State House, vibrant downtown with many locally-owned shops, rich history, arts scene , and its unique quirk of being the only state capital without a McDonald’s or Starbucks. It’s a picturesque city nestled in a valley with a strong emphasis on local culture, food, and outdoor recreation. It’s population is 8,000.
We took a morning and visited the famous gold-domed State House. We took a very informative tour.
Here is our intrepid Mr. Ken, posing on the steps of the Statehouse.
Both the Representatives and the Senate are housed at the State House.
Have you visited any State Capitals? If so, where and what did you think?
