Some of us have fitness related New Year’s goals, some of us do not. In looking at my week this week, it was all about food! (And no, I am NOT a foodie by any means.)
So Mr. Ken and I made our monthly excursion to Market Basket. Even though it takes about 20 minutes to get to the store and you have to go on a busy highway, the prices can’t be beat. All these items cost us about $150! At our local grocery store, the same items would be about $80 more!
Well, most of this stuff is healthy: chicken noodle soup, Greek yogurt and vitamins. No comment about the LARGE bag of potato chips. Even though it is just the two of us, we love shopping at Costco. Great prices!
Another favorite place is Wilson Farms, an all year-round farm stand in Lexington, Mass. My friend Lisa and I go there frequently. Um, I would like to say that I go for the fresh fruits and vegetables, but they also have cupcakes and cookies to die for. 🙂
How is your January going? Lots of healthy eating? Lots of exercise? Lots of food?

The idea of a monthly shop takes a while for my brain to compute. We do it very differently in our household where we shop a little most days; mostly because of space constraints.
Do you have your menu planned for the month as well? I am not particularly disciplined so depend on what I find at the store to devise our meals.

Hi,
I had to laugh when I read your comment. No, I am not that organized to plan out the meals ahead of time. I am just cheap, er frugal. We luckily have a basement where we store our extra “stuff.” 🙂

Aside from buying the same shopping products at a more discounted store, my wife and I also perform a Pioneer Woman’s tip: by cooking several meals at a time and vacuum-sealing and freezing the extra meals for later. Gives us extra time for other activities. Have a wonderful day, Nancy.

Hey Art,
Thanks for the suggestion. I’m always up for having more time for fun activities and spending less time on food and cooking. 🙂
