Aside from beautiful nature scenes, Vermont has a lot of old abandoned buildings. Here are few that we came across.
This old Getty Station was reborn as a skating rink for a few years. It then shut down. Since it is located right next to the West River, it is tough to build something else on that site. Plus, there is no septic system there and with today’s laws, that means nothing can be built there. Makes me wonder what they did for bathrooms back when it was a Getty station and a skating rink.
This old Victorian house must have been a beauty, back in the day.
Since there is a lot of land in Vermont, buildings tend to sit empty for years. Unlike the built up suburb where I live, where tear downs happen all the time. Land is too valuable here to have it sit empty.
What old buildings have you seen in your travels?
