Northampton Downtown Scene

I love my early morning walks and I especially love walking around Northampton. Here are some of the interesting buildings and streets I saw during my walks.

I loved seeing this church steeple reach into the blue sky.

Here is a close up of the church window. I love the cross motif.

Northampton is an old city. The Town of Northampton (originally the town of Nonotuck) was granted its Charter in 1654. In 1884 the City of Northampton was incorporated. I love all the old buildings. Here is one example. Note the detail on the cornice.

The railroad runs through Northampton. In 1845 the line between Springfield and Northampton opened, and late the next year it reached its original terminus. The line was then extended further north into Vermont three years later and remained independent until 1893 when it was leased to the Boston and Maine Railroad (B&M).

A neat bar was built into one of the tunnels, connecting two sides of Northampton. It is aptly named “The Tunnel Bar.”

It was so much fun to walk through downtown during the early morning, before the traffic and people were about. Here is a nice scene from that.

And here is another scene of downtown in the early morning.
