Eating out in Vermont

Posted on October 16, 2024

As you can probably tell by all the blogs I write about Vermont, I love the state! It is scenic, the people are friendly and most importantly, it isn’t crowded.

However, being out in nature can pose some challenges. Going out to eat, for example. You can’t just hop in your car and drive 5 minutes to a restaurant. Mr. Ken and I were fortunate to find some cool restaurants as we were out and about during the day.

Going to Dorset, Vermont is one of our “things” we do in Vermont. Dorset is the quintessential New England town. Normally, we eat at the Dorset Union Store. They have the best sandwiches! However, we were in Dorset on a Monday and the store was closed.

Luckily, Dorset has more than one place to eat. We ate at the Dorset Bakery Cafe instead. What a cool place. We knew it would be nice, just from the sign.

Not only was the food good, the inside of the restaurant was filled with interesting things.

Here’s a table at the Cafe.

Here’s a pretty stained glass window and decorative plate from the Cafe.

We also ate this cool restaurant in Manchester, Vermont called The Works. Like the Dorset Cafe, the inside was so interesting. I just love the hanging lights.

Not only was the inside interesting, but the view out the window was lovely too. The Works is by a lovely stream.

What type of restaurants do you like to eat at when you are on vacation?
