Why is it that when one is on vacation, all one can think about is the next meal? Maybe it’s because we’re relaxed. Mr. Ken and I are not foodies, but we do enjoy our Vermont food. Here are some of the yummy things we ate.
We love staying in places that have full kitchens. We enjoy having a nice lunch out, but take our breakfasts and dinners back at our place. We like eating dinners in, not because we’re cheap, but because we are usually so tired from all of our fun activities during the day.
I was excited to see local kale, just the thing for my morning breakfast scramble!
And here is a picture of my yummy egg white and kale breakfast scramble. Well, yummy might be in the eye of the beholder. π
There is nothing better than fresh corn. We were out and about and just happened to stop at a local farm stand. The corn was just picked! It was the most delicious corn I have ever tasted.
We also stopped at this cool little market near us. The owner was just so friendly and nice, we spent a half hour just talking with her. She introduced us to watermelon radishes. Now, normally, I am not a radish person, but this vegetable was so colorful and pretty, I couldn’t resist. It also tasted good and wasn’t bitter like regular radishes are.
Vacation isn’t just about eating healthy, local foods; it is about enjoying the yummy local foods too!
Wilcox’s Ice Cream, made in Arlington, Vermont, is our favorite.
Our host, who is just the nicest person, left us some local Vermont treats – Lake Champlain chocolate and Vermont maple syrup. Of course, our guys had to get in on the fun too.
What sort of food do you eat on vacation?

Our latest staycation took us to the Cheesecake Factory– with its diversity of awesome main menu items. But a slice of any of their desserts is more than a meal in itself.

Hey Art – I smiled when I read your comment. My dear mother and dear aunt absolutely loved the Cheesecake Factory. Even though they ate like birds, they always had room for the cheesecake. π
