Even though Mr. Ken and I only spent a few days in Northampton, we saw a lot. Here are some more scenes from Northampton and the surrounding areas.
I love crystals. (Mr. Ken calls them Pet Rocks. . .) I was very excited to learn of a crystal store, Groundings, located in Florence, which is a part of Northampton.
Here I am, outside the store. If you look closely, you can see I am holding a little bag, filled with the crystals I bought inside.
And here are some the crystals I bought at Groundings. Laura, the owner of Groundings, suggested I take a picture of the crystals, next to the cards explaining the crystals so I could keep them all straight.
Not only did I buy some cool crystals, but I also got this cute little troll. His name is “Tiny.” He comes with his own little jar of crystals.
Northampton is home to Smith College. When I was deciding upon college, it was a close tie between Smith and Mt. Holyoke. The Smith College campus is very nice, but I think the Mt. Holyoke campus is prettier.
Here I am, standing in front of the Smith College gate. Mmm, this gate looks very similar to that of Mt. Holyoke. I bet they were both designed by the same person.
Smith also has a very nice greenhouse. And, luckily it was open the day we visited. Here I am, inside. This greenhouse would be a wonderful place to visit in the dead of winter.
Northampton proper has a more urban feel, but once you get outside of the city, it is quite different. I just loved driving around and seeing the farmland.
Here are some views as we drove.
And what is a country scene without an old barn?
What is the countryside without cows?
Even cows need shade when it’s hot.
All around, there were gently rolling hills in the background.
This Northampton vacation was short, but so relaxing. Mr. Ken and I saw many interesting sights and we can’t wait to come back!

Hi Judi – it is funny you should mention that. I loved every bit of our stay in Northampton, but visiting the crystal store was my favorite.
Hah, my motto is “you can never have enough crystals.” 🙂
