Tea time redux

Posted on May 1, 2024

Tea seems to be my theme for this spring. My dear friend Lisa invited me to an afternoon tea at Fancy That. This is an adorable tea house and gift shop, based in an old Victorian mansion.

We arrived and were led to a lovely, sun-drenched private room. It was as if we were having our own private tea party.

The table settings were just beautiful. Everything had a tea theme, even the spoons!

Everything on the menu looked scrumptious!

There were so many types of tea to choose from. There was everything from the classic Earl Grey, English Breakfast tea and the like. I was adventurous and chose lemon chiffon tea, an herbal tea. This lovely tea is made from green rooibos, lemongrass, apple and other flavors. Green rooibos is much smoother than the usual red rooibos. I loved this tea so much, I bought some to take home.

Not only was the tea delicious, but the tea cakes were too. Here is the “tower” of cakes that were presented to us. There were little sandwiches, scones and of course desserts.

Here I am, happy to be at tea. You can see the nice windows behind me.

I had several leftovers, which I brought home in a cute little pink box. I was looking forward to enjoying them later. I got home and put them in the fridge. Later, I come back downstairs and I see Mr. Ken in the kitchen, with crumbs on his face. Before I had a chance to say anything, he said, “Boy those leftovers were really good!” Sigh, so much for leftovers. The only things left in the box were the clotted cream and jam. I have a feeling that those will be gone soon too.
