Tea time

I am slowly starting to emerge from COVID isolation/hibernation. My friend Lisa and I had a really fun experience a few weeks ago. We went to a tea tasting at the Golden Ball Tavern, a cool historic place in Weston, Massachusetts.

From the Golden Ball Tavern website:

“The Golden Ball Tavern Museum offers visitors a different perspective on the American Revolution. Our museum, housed in a historic Pre-Revolutionary home and tavern in Weston, Massachusetts, tells the other side of the story – that of the Loyalists during the War of Independence. Notably, the Museum is among only a handful of institutions in the country dedicated to bringing to life the Loyalist experience. The Tavern was opened in 1770 by Isaac Jones, a Loyalist (or Tory) who advocated compromise over conflict with Great Britain at considerable personal risk. He ultimately joined the Patriot cause and went on to make significant contributions to the new republic.”

Being in Massachusetts, we still hear about the infamous Boston Tea Party and Paul Revere’s ride to Concord. It is all about the patriots. (Not to be confused with the Patriots football team – lol.) It was so interesting to learn about a Loyalist.

It was so much fun to sample lots of different teas. Who knew there were so many different types. One thing I learned was to slow down and smell the tea before drinking it.

Lisa and I have vowed to do more excursions like this one. There is so much to do so close to home.
