Bright spots in the dark of winter

Posted on January 17, 2024

Here in New England, January can be a tough month. It’s dark; it’s cold and it usually snows.

This is not exactly conducive to energetic days, but rather snuggling under a warm blanket and just chilling.

the gang snuggling

Here are some of our beloved “gang” doing just that. From left to right, we have Windsor, Pickles and Chester (the large corgis) and Barley (the English horse) and Bernard (the Canadian moose).

beautiful bouquet

In spite of the dark, cold winter days, I managed to fill our family room with flowers. This beautiful bouquet is thanks to my friend Bruce, at Trader Joe’s. On a side note, I love, love, love shopping at Trader Joe’s since the cashiers are so nice and friendly. Bruce is one of my favorites.

hyacinth

This pretty, fragrant hyacinth was given to me by my dear cousin Tom. It’s a perfect antidote to a cold winter day.

red Christmas flowers

What could be more festive than a pretty red poinsettia and an amaryllis? Every day, we anxiously look at the amaryllis and hope to see it blooming.

What do you do to brighten up your winter days?
