Deliverance

I view every day as an adventure and our drive up to Vermont was no exception. Mmm, normally, the ride is pretty straightforward; Route 128 to Route 2 to Route 91 and presto you are in Vermont. But no this time Google maps decided to make life interesting by taking us a VERY scenic route. Why? No reason, there was no accident, no construction, it was just one of those things.

Google maps took us down a scenic dirt road. It kind of reminded me of the movie, “Deliverance,” since we seemed to be deep into the forest. For those of you unfamiliar with this classic, “Deliverance” was a 1972 movie about four friends (Jon Voight, Burt Reynolds, Ned Beatty, Ronny Cox) who decide to get away from their jobs, wives and kids for a week of canoeing in rural Georgia. When the men arrive, they are not welcomed by the backwoods locals, who stalk the vacationers and savagely attack them in the woods.

The good news was that we saw lots of interesting scenes: miniature horses, baby goats and cows! We got our dose of “country” even before we left Massachusetts. A perfect start to our Vermont vacation.
