Interesting buildings in Old Quebec

If you’ve read my other posts about our fabulous trip to Old Quebec, you can tell that I just love walking around a city. To me, it is the best way to really get to know a place and its people.

One of the many things that I love about Old Quebec is its interesting buildings. They all have a story to tell!

And last, but not least, the famous Chateau Frontenac.

We had a fascinating tour of the Chateau Frontenac. It was made all the more interesting by the tour guide dressed in period costume!

Why is the Château Frontenac famous?

The impressive Château Frontenac is Québec City’s most famous landmark. The luxurious hotel perched atop Cape Diamond since the late 19th century was designed to convey prestige in keeping with its Old Québec surroundings. Historic events have taken place in the building, and famous people have stayed there.

The Château Frontenac is an excellent example of the grand hotels developed by railway companies in Canada in the late 1800s. Considered the world’s most photographed hotel, it was designated a National Historic Site in 1981.
