Just get out there and do it!

just do it

By now, most of you know that I injured my foot last December and had to have multiple foot surgeries in March. The surgeon just cleared me for resuming my regular activities – yay. I was looking forward to restarting my “pod” walks. These are guided cardio walks (from a MP3 player – hence the name “pod”). I do a combination of fast walking and light jogging. Nothing gives me an endorphin rush like this exercise.

I was a bit nervous going out for the first time since December. I was afraid that I would re-injure myself. I went out and did it anyway. It was quite the eye-opener. Even though I have been active throughout my recovery, it was not the same level. I was out of breath and my legs were tired. The good news however, is that my feet felt fine. (Or maybe I was breathing so hard I couldn’t feel my feet!)

It was a tough session. I tried not to get too, too discouraged. I kept moving, putting one foot in front of the other. Before I knew it, my workout was over and I felt great. I also felt a good sense of accomplishment. I felt strong – kind of like these action figures. 🙂

I can’t wait to get out there and do another “pod” walk, however I will be smart this time and do it only twice a week.

What have you done to “just get out there and do it?”
