Who knew that my beloved Mr. Ken would turn into such a serious book reader? Here he is, hard at work, reading his latest book, “Alexander Hamilton” by Ron Chernow. Yes, this is the very same book upon which the musical, “Hamilton,” is based.
Mr. Ken recently decided to join a book club at our local library. I think he now reads more than me! And he reads a wide variety of books. I am so impressed.
Mr. Ken is a very serious book reader. This Hamilton book has over 700 pages and Mr. Ken figured out that he would need to read at least 36 pages a day to finish the book in time for the book club discussion. I am smiling to myself because this brings back happy memories for me of my college days. I minored in English and we had to read a lot of books; that is where I learned to skim books, yet still get the gist of them.
This all started with my suggesting Mr. Ken read books by the Barefoot Sisters on hiking the Appalachian Trail. I thought he would enjoy these books because we love hiking so much. Well he did and the rest, they say, is history.
What will Mr. Ken come up with next? Only time will tell! π

There is a book by the name of Speed Reading, I would highly recommend it to speed up the reading habit.

This latest book, “Alexander Hamilton” is very good AND very educational. Reading about the American Revolution and the early days of the United States is fascinating. The only problem is the book is so heavy my wrists are getting sore holding it! I like the book club because I’ve read a bunch of books that I would probably not read on my own (and I enjoyed almost all of them).

Hi Red Sox Lady,
Mr. Ken finally finished the book and really enjoyed it. The author did a lot of research and it showed since he quoted from many letters from the time.
