It has been tough to clean out my childhood home and get it ready to sell. In some ways, this has been harder on me than the week the my dear Mom died. But, somehow I am managing to get through it.
Cleaning out the house has had some happy moments too. As I was cleaning out the attic, I came across this childhood toy. I had forgotten all about it until now. It was my favorite toy! I could sit for hours playing with this little school house. Yes, I was a little nerd, even way back when. 🙂
I spent a few moments, lost in my pleasant memories. It was like taking a mini-vacation.
What happy childhood memories do you cherish?

Nice mini-nerd toy! You got me reminiscing: I had a well-travelled little grey teddy bear with a red jacket and white collar that must have got stuck in a pull-out bed left behind in one of the country to country moves 😦

Hi Bea,
Thanks for sharing that cute memory with us! I am glad that Mr. Teddy Bear wasn’t permanently lost! 🙂

Toys are the best. So fun. Even when you find them much later.

Hey Professor,
I bet if you looked hard enough, you could find an old toy katana that you used to play with when you were a kid! 🙂

What a wonderful moment to share! Never stop being a child – it’s one of the secrets to true life and so glad to hear you were able to take that “trip back” via your mini vacation! By the way, I haven’t been on a plane in over 4 years for a variety of reasons but haven’t missed it a lick. When one can remember how to be a child and take those mini-vacations one can go just about anywhere for the best price in town – free! Keep practicing and you will soar to places unknown & save the environment some carbon emissions to boot! Happy future school days – I think I hear the school bell ringing now so better pick up that pace…

Hey Stephen,
Thanks so much for your thoughtful comment. As for remembering how to be a child, it is all to easy to forget how.
I find if I just look out the window and watch the kids on our street playing, it comes back to me.

Oh my, there are so many. I’ve never seen a schoolhouse like yours. How special. We are memory keepers and it’s tough to let go of anything sometimes. I’m sorry about your mom and that you have to go through this difficult transition.

Dear friend Ralph,
But teddy bears are just so cute! I bet if you wrote a blog post about them and posted pictures of them, your blog cred would soar! 🙂

Your little school house reminds me of how I used to play with my collection of Matchbook cars in the back yard. I’d have little roads in the dirt and “construction areas” where I would use my dump truck and other earth moving equipment. I guess little girls didn’t play with Matchbox cars?

Well Mr. Ken,
The closest I came to a Matchox car was my “Barbie mobile.” 🙂
