Here in New England, we don’t have much of a spring. We tend to go from cold winter to hot summer, with maybe a few spring-like weeks in between. One sign of spring is pansies. As a matter of fact, my town has the pansy as their official flower. Now who knew that a town had an official flower? Only in New England. ๐
Here are some of the pansies Mr. Ken has planted in our backyard. We will be able to enjoy them from our family room. They are in the garden with our roses. There is a little fence around them since the rabbits (and probably chipmunks) like to eat pansies.
Happy spring!
What signs of spring are around you?

Well Professor,
Then you can make dandelion tea! Or even better, dandelion wine. ๐

The best or prettiest sign of spring to me is when the bordering mountains get the lush deep green of the fresh grasses on the lower benches and slopes, right up to the fresh snow caping the peaks.

Our spring in California came with a riot of daffodils followed by my azaleas. I have a picture of them on my blog, Zanna asked. We are currently having rain, such a wonderful, welcome thing and now my gardenias are starting to bloom. I’ll post a picture when I can. Hello to Mr. Ken, hope you are doing better.

Hi Melody,
I just love daffodils and azaleas. They are so colorful. I can’t wait to see your pictures.

P.S. I am doing a bit better. Thank you for asking. Of course, I still miss Mom a lot, but it isn’t as painful.

The flowers are just getting started and I’m looking forward to when they get bigger and full of blooms. It’s a good thing there is a wire fence around them as rabbits seem to love pansies. What DON’T they love?

Dear Mr. Ken,
It is a very good thing that rabbits aren’t as smart as chipmunks. Otherwise, they would have figured out a way around the wire fence to get at the pansies and the roses!

Glad you have pansies, they’re perfect for spring. We actually have flowers sprouting in car lots and orange trees blooming along some streets!

Nancy, we plant Pansies in the fall so that they can get a head start and be beautiful now, which they are. We also have trees showing green and vegetables emerging from the ground.

Hi Joe,
Great idea about planting pansies in the fall, we’ll have to think about that in the fall.

I like the way they look after time to establish their roots. During the dead of winter you will occasionally see a bloom poking up through the snow.

Hi Walt,
That is too bad about the allergies. I hope you get some relief soon.
