McDonalds! Yes, you read that correctly. This exercise and healthy eating obsessed person has come to love McDonalds. Ever since there has a been a McDonalds in my home town, I vowed never to set foot in it. After all, this company is the original creator of fast food. Can we say poison and obesity?
One day as I was out and about doing my errands and minding my own business, I walked by McDonalds and I was struck by the sign in the window, advertising $1 for any size coffee. I was craving some coffee, so I went in and checked it out.
The coffee is not only cheap, but it’s delicious! It’s Green Mountain coffee and any size is only ONE DOLLAR. And, if you smile nicely at the cashier, you get the senior discount, bringing the grand total down to $0.85. This can’t be beat. I am not THAT old, but I guess compared to the 12 year old cashier, I must seem to be old. Hey, I’ll take it if it means cheaper coffee. đ
The interior is kind of cool too. It’s more of a retro 50’s diner look.
There are even little secluded sitting areas, note the interesting wall that acts as a separator.
So now, I make McDonalds part of my daily routine. I sit enjoying my coffee and a book. Life is good. Who would have thought?
Do you have any surprising obsessions/interests?
Pictures thanks to yours truly and her trusty smartphone. đ

That is great finding my friend. At times we leave some good things out may be because of what we have heard about it or what we think about it but when we go closer, you will be surprise to see it has more advantage than what we’ve imagined. Thank God for your discovery.

I’m surprised! Floored, actually. They have good french fries, I think. It’s been a while.

Well Professor,
I must admit that I have never had the McDonald’s french fries.
Now that I am a regular at McDonald’s, you just never know what my next obsession will be. Maybe it will be the french fries! đ

You have to be the only person in the world not to have the fries. They’re filled with some addictive chemical additive, I’m certain. Here’s the trick, though–they’re only perfect when they’re fresh, so what you want to do is order them “without salt”. They’ll cook up a fresh batch just for you, because normal protocol is to sprinkle the fries the moment they’re dumped out of the grease basket. I’ve been to McDonalds once in over a year, but I think about it all the time. Coffee stops don’t count for “going to McDonalds” I think.

Hey JunkChuck,
Yes, I am probably the only person in the entire world to have not partaken in McDonald’s french fries.
I had also read that they do have some addictive chemical, or at least a perfect combination of fat, salt and carbohydrates to make a person just keep eating them.

I think you should try out some of the other delicious items on the menu such as McFlurrys and Big Macs.

Dear Mr. Ken,
I don’t know about that. I don’t think I will EVER eat a Big Mac. Talk about poison!
As for McFlurrys, who can forget the famous, or rather infamous, scene where I found your McFlurry cup in the garbage. What were you thinking? That you could hide it from me, the diet police? đ

Ken, do you remember that song they had for the Big Mac – “Two all beef patties, special sauce, lettuce, cheese, pickles, onions, on a sesame seed bun..” I haven’t had one in a long long time..

I love the drinks at McCafe. One of the best hot chocolates around. I sometimes have an egg sandwich as well. And ever so often, I gave to have a strawberry milkshake – so thick my face aches at the end!

Hi,
You now have me curious to try some of the other items on the McDonald’s menu. The egg sandwich sounds good. And I think you can get just egg whites, so it is healthy. đ

Here in Singapore, some of the McDonalds have the McCafe attached to them. Do you have the same?

Hi,
Yes, actually the McCafe is part of the regular McDonalds. At least in the one that I go to.
I was so surprised. It actually feels like a real cafĂŠ and not a McDonalds!

McDonald’s generally does a very good job with the interior decoration in Italy, to make it coherent with the location. The one in the center here is quite attractive – fake ancient style complete with little fountain as you walk through the entrance corridor. They also serve healthy stuff like salads and fruit :). What we haven’t had in Italy so far is Starbucks (!!) but one is meant to open in Milan this year. I’ll probably go out of my way to find it next time I’m there – mainly for the US style baked goodies đ

Hi Bea,
McDonalds is everywhere. Pretty soon it will take over the world. đ It is also just a matter of time before Starbucks does the same thing.

Hard to believe. Until I moved to Israel, I had never been to McDonalds, and now that I’m back in the USA, I haven’t been to any. Where have you been? Come hang out at my blog for awhile!

I go with my mom sometimes for breakfast.. She usually gets the senior coffee and a sausage biscuit – well done with strawberry jelly on top. I usually get the egg biscuit and an iced tea to drink…. McDonald’s is a great place for breakfast and to hang out.

This article made me smile. They’re sneaky, aren’t they? Coffee drags you in, and soon you’ll be ordering their chemical-bombed foods. But seriously… don’t. The potatoes grown for McD’s are treated with a chemical so strong that they have to be stored specially for a few weeks to “detox” the fumes – the farmers need to wear special biohazard gear to handle them… no wonder their fries will last, pristine, for months (try it sometime – buy some, toss a few under the seat of your car and forget about them; in a few months you could dust them off, nuke them, and have at it (if you’re suicidal…) đ

Hi Trinity,
It’s funny you should mention about McD’s French fries. I have heard they have perfected the ingredients so that they’re totally addictive. I am also not surprised that they would last forever.
