I decided to do something a bit different this year. I decided to view the week between Christmas and New Year’s a real vacation. I used to love this week off when I was in school; you had the time to enjoy the Christmas presents and time to look forward to the New Year. We always used to go skiing during this week too, which was a fun way to deal with the cold weather.
I didn’t go anywhere this year, so this was more of a vacation in my mind. Those types of vacations can be good too. I kept my usual schedule of waking up at 4:30 am and doing my exercise. This is just second nature to me.
The big difference was in the afternoons when I would usually be working on my Harvard project. I took time off from that and did a lot of reading. I’m slowly making my way through the Wall Street Journal’s list of notable books for 2015. I read in our family room, where our pretty Christmas tree was. It sure was nice to see the sparkling lights on those dreary and dark December days.
Speaking of Christmas, I hope you all had a good one. No surprise for me that all of my gifts were fitness related.
My gifts:
- Cathe Friedrich’s lasts DVD series
- Walking shoes
- Sweat shirts and sweat pants
- Fitbit – my favorite gift of all. In fact I love this gift so much, I will be doing an entire blog post about it. Stay tuned.
Here’s hoping for a glorious New Year ahead!
The pretty Christmas tree photo is thanks to Mr. Ken, photographer extraordinaire. π

May your holiday be a special time to smell the roses and spoil yourself! Learn the value of pampering yourself. Know no one will spoil you like yourself and God. I have not visited for a while and been battling some illnesses, yet you are always embraced in my prayers Nancy! May your New Year bless your life with abundant new possibilities and much love, peace, and happiness. Know you are loved always…God bless!

yes, it is so good to really go off “doing” mode and to take a needed mental break. Glad you had yours: mine starts tomorrow till Jan 7 (6th is a holiday here). Wishing you a restful start to the New Year, and a truly satisfactory 2016 π

Hi dear Nancy π
That’s right, put your feet up. Someone has got to be by the Christmas tree to make sure the chipmunks don’t play with the decorations. (Well, that would be my excuse π )
Happy New Year ! π β€

Dear friend Ralph,
Yes, we have to watch out for those mischievous chipmunks. They are quite sneaky, kind of like your cats. π
