This is how I spent my summer vacation.
As you can see from the expression on my face, this isn’t the most fun thing I have ever done. π
Notice the beautiful camouflage tarp in use under the car. This is what Mr. Ken bought when we had our adventure at the tool store. Originally, he bought it to keep his car clean, but I see he has found another use for it. Who knew a tarp could be so versatile?
Can you guess what I’m doing?

Dear Friend Ralph,
Oh no! Shhh, don’t tell Mr. Ken because he’ll have to go back and clean the whole area under the hood. Yep, he is such a clean freak, that he has been known to do that. π

Oh yes, if I knew what the engine looked like under the hood, I suppose I could clean it. π

Mr. Ken appears to like to DIY. I’m with you, Jiffy Lube and those types can have my business. It is all way to messy, and I am not a neat freak. You look cute holding the funnel π

Hi there,
Mr. Ken loves DIY. I’m with you on the Jiffy Lube thing. When I was single, (many, many, many years ago), I didn’t even like to wash my car, so I would take it to the car wash. I lived in a tiny apartment in an expensive town, so all the other cars at the car wash were expensive. And there I sat in my little Chevy Nova. But the car wash guys treated my car the same as the expensive ones. π

Looks like you’re giving the car a cuppa coffee out of my old filter.
Maybe a doughnut to follow for Mr Ken!

Hi Jean,
Mr. Ken has had more than his share of donuts this week, so there is no donut in the works for him. As a matter of fact, he also had a McFlurry from McDonald’s this week too. So from now on it is salad and fruit for him!

Hi Bea,
Well, I really don’t know what I’m doing around an engine. If I were to re-create this scene without Mr. Ken, I couldn’t even remember where to put the funnel thingie. I might end up pouring oil into the place that holds the window washing fluid!

Yes, adding oil…I was thinking , Changing the oil, since you had that tarp down. Of course I don’t think you would be smiling so much if you were changing it. Do you need to put a tarp down to change the oil? ???

Hi Andy,
The picture is a little blurry, since I am actually grimacing. As for the tarp, all I know is that Mr. Ken always puts it down when he does anything with the car. It seems to me it would be easier to just let something spill onto the driveway. After all, if it spills on the tarp, you then have to clean it up.

Hi Andy,
Thanks for the comments. I always put a tarp down when I change the oil as it seems to splash around more than I think it will. But no matter how careful I am I always manage to get a little on the driveway or garage floor anyway. It is a messy job and my “mature” body is finding it harder to crawl under the car and get back up. I have these fancy car ramps so I guess I figure that it’s a shame not to use them. Also by changing the oil myself I am 100% certain about the type / brand of oil that is in the engine. I don’t trust the garage to put in the correct viscosity.

Hi Ken,
Interesting answer. Now, if I only knew what viscosity was, I’d be all set. π

Hi Walt,
Yes, you could surmise that, except I wouldnβt know where to put the oil. π
But you are correct that this picture has something to do with oil. I am holding a funnel so Mr. Ken can pour the new oil into where ever oil goes. π

Hi Walt,
Mr. Ken is somewhere in the garage; I hear him mumbling about alternators and filters. I assume these terms have something to do with cars. π

Dear Nancy, Skippy the ChipMunk asked me to send you a message. Please help Mr. Ken check to see if there are chipmunk nests in your engine. One winter while out driving we noticed the smell of roasted nuts. After searching around we found a little stash of acorns and seeds in the filter! The car runs so much better without it. We know how much you love chipmunks. Sue

Hi Sue,
Please give my heartfelt thanks to dear Skippy! At least you only found nuts and seeds and no chipmunks in the engine! Tell dear Skippy that we will be VERY careful when we start the car and will check for chipmunk nests and chipmunks before we do anything else!
