I love Fall! I love everything about it! As much as I would love to spend my days kayaking and hiking and taking in all the beauty of the season, I do want to focus on more serious things too. Fall is also an excellent time to shake up your marketing.
Here’s what I love about fall and how you can change your marketing:
1. The start of something new.
Most of us associate the January with the start of something new. Or perhaps the springtime is associated with something new, since this is when nature is renewed. For me, it’s the Fall. I associate fall with going back to school. Yes I was a little nerd and always looked forward to going back to school.
Back to marketing – what new things can you try with your marketing? It doesn’t have to be something big, just a small change. For example, if you do have a blog, how about inviting a guest blogger to write, perhaps asking one of your customers to write a post.
2. The magnificent colors.
There is nothing like fall in New England. The brilliant red, yellows and oranges of the leaves brighten up any day, even when it’s cloudy.
What can you do to spice up your marketing? Unless you are in a big corporation with all sorts of rules and regulations about colors etc., experiment. Try a new color in your marketing.
3. Peeps!
What can I say, there’s Pumpkin Peeps and Ghost Peeps.
Mmm, how can Peeps relate to marketing? That may be a stretch, but how about making your marketing fun? All I know is the in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, the home of Peeps, they have a Peep mobile. How cool is that?
4. The cool weather.
Even though the days are shorter, the weather is cooler and I have so much more energy. There is something magical to me about crisp fall days. I feel like I can do anything! Nothing says fall to me like pumpkins. I especially love the little pumpkins. Did you know the little white ones are called baby boo pumpkins? How cute is that?
People are back to work after the lazy days of summer, their attention is not so much on the outdoors. This is a perfect time to try and capture their attention.
I’d love to hear which season you love the best.

Nancy, life has been crazy lately; so, I’m behind on reading your blog posts – Sorry! – and haven’t been able to devote any quality time to writing my own. I hope you are well. And, thanks for posting so regularly. You’re an inspiration.

Your point about colour and branding is very well made.
Have to say that Spring is my favourite season ~ as I’m just not into the darkness that comes with Autumn and Winter. Having said that, I love the open fire and the light, warmth and colour it brings.

Hi,
I know what you mean about the darkness. I notice it both in the mornings when I get up – in the spring, it’s light out at 5 am. Now, it’s pitch black. I am also sad to see it get darker in the evenings.

What I like about fall is I believe it is the most colorful / pretty time of year to take landscape photos. The sun just makes the fall foliage explode with vibrant colors. I also think of the nice long weekends we’ve had up in Vermont and New Hampshire in the fall. Nothing is better than a hike in the woods in Vermont on a beautiful fall day! Even just driving around New England that time of year is a feast for the eyes. Stone walls, green pastures / fields with a backdrop of beautiful fall foliage is quite special!

Gosh, you look, sound, and play like you should be from Minnesota. So I just have to ask, in what state do you live?

Hi Cnawan,
I live in Massachusetts.
It’s almost as cold here in the winter as it is in Minnesota. 🙂

Right now– whatever’s going to bring rain to our drought-stricken state. My home recycle water (laundry, shower, and dishwashing) has been supplemental to the leafy greens and a few tomato plants in my garden. But I’ve discontinued squashes until the heavens finally burst.

Hi Nancy , as a new visitor to yr blog , let me say hi from Mumbai . in our part of the world , we are at the end of the monsoon season , with winter due to set in within next five weeks . winter stretches till end feb , followed by spring and a blazing summer in most parts of India . in the seasons that we have , spring is my favourite as Nature is at her most colourful in “the season of mists and mellow fruitfulness”. it is the march – may spring season that ushers in the new year in India , and not 1st january as per gregorian calendar .

Hi Rajagopal,
Thanks so much for your comment. And greetings to you from Boston, Masschusetts!
Wow – Mumbai, that’s exotic. My favorite thing about this wonderful WordPress community is meeting folks like you from around the world. I haven’t had the chance to travel much, but I am learning so much about other countries and cultures through my blogging friends like you.
