No deep thoughts this week, just a photo montage of our favorite summer activity – kayaking. We have been out 8 times already this year. Oh, the sights we’ve seen!
Why I love kayaking on the Charles River.
1. The pretty flowers.
I’m not sure what these pretty flowering bushes are called, but the flowers were extra abundant this year. They may be rhododendrons.
2. The interesting wild life.
I call the swans, “monster swans,” because they are big birds! And they aren’t very even tempered either. For several years, we saw a pair of swans, then suddenly one year, there was only one swan. I believe they mate for life. A swan pair is back, so I’m hoping the swan found another mate. Soon, we hope to see baby swans.
3. More interesting wild life.
Okay, so Canadian Geese aren’t my favorite bird, but somehow seeing them on the Charles River is okay. I must admit, their babies are cute though.
4. Having fun with Mr. Ken.
My dear husband is usually miles ahead of me in his kayak. Who can figure this out, since I’m the one who does all the exercise. He claims it’s because he has such good “Olympic form.” I think it’s because he wants to get done so we can have our chicken parmesan sandwiches and a Dairy Queen Blizzard.
So what do you have planned for your summer?

Nice blog about our favorite summer activity dear wife! I’m not sure why I go so fast but I guess true athletes like me can’t help themselves! 🙂

Hey Mr. Ken,
Yes, some of us are just natural athletes and some have to work really hard at it. 🙂

Just two short weeks before we head up to Maine to see my brother and Dad, chill out, and have a little family get-together, which happens once every, say, 5-6 years? Post pix of baby swans whenever you see them! Stay cool, Ginny

*laughing* Mr. Ken has a great point, I think! But I think you’re reason is closer to the truth, I mean, that’s how it’d be for me. Only I’d want to be taken about.

Hey Professor,
Well, you could always opt for a two person kayak, with you sitting in the back. As long as the person in front doesn’t look back and see you just sitting there and not paddling, you’d be good. 🙂

We used to have our own kayaks (before we started traveling) since we lived on a canal on Padre Island. We loved our early morning time paddling through some of the wetland areas and watching the egrets and herons. Magical!
