I love walking, but since like most people, I’m a creature of habit so I tend to walk the same routes. This past Saturday I decided to take a different path. I went on the other side of the rail road station and found the most delightful country road. To think I’ve lived in this town over 20 years and never even knew this road existed!
I also decided to ‘play’ with my little tracfone and try the photo features. Here’s the result:
1. Oops.
As you can see, photography is not my strong point. I meant to take a picture of the railroad bridge. 🙂
2. Go under the rail road bridge.
By this time I was intrigued as to what lay beyond the bridge.
3. Beautiful country road!
What at nice surprise to see this pretty country road!
4. Pretty flowers.
More nice surprises, these pretty flowers. These hydrangeas were a brilliant blue. They were so blue that they almost looked artificial.
5. Nice country house.
6. Interesting Victorian house.
I just love Victorian houses. To me, they are so much more interesting than a traditional colonial that is common in my town.
7. Back to the Town Center.
Okay, so this isn’t the most flattering picture of the town center. It’s a nice contrast though to the pretty road that I just left.
So my lessons learned from this little jaunt were:
1. Take a different path.
My town is a typical New England suburb. It’s fairly built up so it was such a nice surprise to find this meandering country road right outside of the downtown area.
2. Savor the moments.
When I first went under the railroad bridge, the road wasn’t too scenic. That was okay though since I had never been to this part of my town before, I knew I was in for an adventure. My favorite part of this walk was the brilliant blue hydrangeas!
3. Try something new.
As soon as I started walking this new path, I knew I was going to write a blog post about this. I was thinking that pictures would better capture my walk and that’s when I decided to use my phone. Now my little tracfone is pretty basic and it’s not like a smart phone with all sorts of bells and whistles.
4. Have fun.
I really enjoyed my walk and the new sceneary. I also had a blast back at my computer, trying to figure out how to get the pictures from my phone to my computer. It’s not quite as simple as with a smartphone, but I figured it out.
I have to say that I had the most fun putting together this blog post. It’s because I tried something different.
I am already planning my next photographic adventure!
So why don’t you try to take a different road next time and see where it leads you! Let me know what happens.
Photographs are from Nancy’s little tracfone. 🙂

Hey Professor,
Yes, isn’t it fun discovering new places. It is especially fun when the new places are literally in your back yard!

Hi Mr. Ken,
I thought you would enjoy seeing my “oops” photo. At least this time, I had the camera aimed up and not down so I didn’t take a picture of my feet.

there is always an “oops moment” when you venture on new paths but than it all becomes better as you progress. Brilliant Post!

Grown-in, covered, sun and shadow over that lightened, patched asphalt. I love that.

Hi Mike,
I’m glad you enjoyed the post and the pictures. As you can tell, photography isn’t one of my strong points, but at least you all get an idea of what I saw on my walk that day.

Sharing those pathways registers in the common experience of many. The photos are good enough to trigger those memories and take us there.
