I’m still glowing from my successful consulting project. I feel energized, happy and confident. My next challenge is to keep this momentum going. How will I do that? I’ve heard that every time you take action, it’s easier to keep going. It’s something to do with the laws of the universe and molecules in motion.
It also helps to write things down. So here’s my plan for keeping things going:
* Learn something new everyday. There are so many free webinars and articles out there, it can be overwhelming. I figure if I break it down to one a day, it’s doable. Most of my new learnings will be about technology and marketing, but there will be some fitness, hiking and kayaking stuff thrown in for good measure.
* Get out to events at least once a week. Things quiet down in the summer, but even a trip into Cambridge to walk around will inspire me.
* Get serious about finding meaningful part-time work. Volunteer work is wonderful, but it would be nice to have some extra income too. I will be attending an information session about a program that helps women get back into the workforce after they’ve been out. I can’t wait.
* Get off the computer! It’s so easy for me to get wrapped up in browsing the Internet. Before I know it, a few hours have passed and I haven’t accomplished a thing.
* Continue volunteering. The HBS CAP projects will start up again in September; this is how I got involved with my project this year. There’s also a marketing organization in Newton, MA that does work for non-profits and small companies. I will check them out.
Do you have any tips for keeping the momentum going?

Get off the computer….it can be such a great resource yet valuable time snatcher too; a black hole. Good luck building momentum and keeping the wind at your back!

Hi,
Yes, great advice. I’m starting to think that computers are more of big time waster than a productivity tool.
It will be easier for me to get off and stay off the computer, now that the nicer weather is here.
Thanks for the good wishes.
Nancy
P.S. It’s funny that your should talk about keeping the wind at my back. My next blog post is going to be about “Kayaking into the wind.” 🙂

I hate biking into the wind. Kayaking into just spins me around in circles. I guess the way to stay productive on computers is to have others do the research for us. 🙂
